News de l’élevage – Update on my Hamstery

Après énormément de réflexion, et après l’arrêt de plusieurs éleveurs, j’en suis venue à la conclusion que je n’arrêterai pas complètement, mais je vais ralentir énormément le rythme. Là j’ai évidemment les portées surprises, mais quand même beaucoup moins d’animaux à la maison, et je m’en sors mieux, niveau temps, niveau résistance physique, je suis plus cool.

Il me reste quelques vieux (dont Fenris qui a pris un sale coup de vieux, du haut de ses deux ans et 4 mois), deux mâles reproducteur (Cappu et Abracadabra). Je pense donc, si tout va bien, pouvoir planifier une portée pour décembre (sevrée pour Houten en décembre). Ce sera probablement du rex, je réfléchis encore mais je pense garder Chelsea qui m’a fait de superbes bébés.

Après cela, j’évaluerai comment ça fonctionne pour moi. Je tournerai peut-être à deux ou trois portées par an dans un premier temps, selon le temps et la santé.

Update : After a lot of thinking, and after several French breeders stopped too, I came to understand that I will not completely stop my hamstery, but I will slow it down a lot. For now I have obviously my suprise litters, but much less animals than before, and it’s much better for me (time, and health), I keep it cool.

I still have several old hamsters (like Fenris, who does look old now he’s 2 y and 4 m old), 2 breeding males (Cappuccino and Abracadabra). I think, everything else going well, I could plan a litter for December (wich will be weaned for Houten). Probably rex, I’m still thinking about it but I will keep Chelsea who had wonderful babies.

After this, I will see how it works for me. I will probably go for 2-3 litters a year, up to my health and the time I have.
